 December 6, 2019 :Gerdau and SKF sign a fee-based gratuity-based agreement in gothenburg to improve productivity and reduce unplanned downtime at Gerdau's Charqueadas and Brazil's Aracariguama steel plants.Under the agreement, SKF provides a full range of products, including bearings, remanufacturing, lubrication systems and devices to monitor connection status.Data from key equipment from the two mills will be analyzed at the SKF rotary equipment performance center in Brazil.Based on this analysis, SKF and Gerdau can plan maintenance and corrective actions to improve machine reliability and performance.Fladimir Gauto, executive director of Gerdau special steel, Brazil, said, "we are focused on creating value and enhancing competitiveness in our business, as well as advancing the implementation of innovative solutions for the steel industry.Our partnership with SKF will certainly be an important support in this regard."Claudinei Reche, President of SKF Bearings Latin America, says, "by offering our clients in the steel industry the opportunity to work with us on a fee-for-service basis, we will allow them to take advantage of our strength in the rotating axis to increase productivity."With a history of 118 years, Gerdau is the largest steel producer in Brazil, the leading producer of long form steel in the americas and one of the world's leading suppliers of specialty steel.In Brazil, it also produces flat steel and iron ore for its own consumption.
