SKF launched a new SKF passenger car bearing 1.7 Mkm cylindrical roller bearing unit (CRU) to extend the maintenance interval of passenger train wheels.
Gothenburg, Sweden, September 18, 2018: The SKF passenger car bearing 1.7 Mkm CRU was launched at this year's InnoTrans 2018. The product is a sealing and lubrication unit with a train mileage of 1.7 Mkm during the maintenance interval. The introduction of the CRU model complements the 1.7 Mkm range of SKF passenger car bearings and brings longer maintenance operation intervals for railway operators.
Using SKF bus bearing 1.7 Mkm (which also includes the earlier tapered bearing unit (TBU) model), by aligning axlebox bearing maintenance with wheel maintenance, operators can obtain considerable efficiency improvements. In the case of reducing the number of bearing replacements, achieving two maintenance operations with one shutdown also means that the overall maintenance cost will be greatly reduced .
